Join celebrity and music photographer Jeremy Saffer as we journey over to the gothic side of portraiture in Beauty in Darkness: A gothic portraiture workshop. Jeremy will transform the classroom into an on location studio, while building a lighting set up that lends itself to a vast amount of variety in minimal lighting changes. Jeremy will create various lighting set ups to achieve incredible, dark, and surreal images all in camera using LED lighting. From single light silhouettes to cinematic 10 light set ups, Jeremy Saffer will utilize a variety of different lighting techniques and practical effects to bring out the unique looks of internationally published goth model and disability advocate Tara Leary, showcasing everything from stoic poses to fast movement with intense poses. Jeremy will demonstrate the immense importance of having a connection to your subject in posing and directing, to bring a photographic vision to fruition. After Jeremy has shown a run through of his work flow, attendees will take part in a hands on demo of the lighting, learning how to control the lighting with the lighting app, then will participate in a posing and directing exercise before taking over the set and taking turns photographing Tara using a variety of different lighting setups, applying everything they’ve learned from the day and creating their own beautiful gothic portraits.

• Post shoot: Jeremy and Tara will be available (outside of the classroom) for any feedback and to answer any additional questions for 1 hour.
